Getting Around by Train

Closed Facilities / Roads / Denali

Winter is coming. Many places, from campgrounds to hotels and restaurants, are already closed in early October.

Denali

Denali National Park is open all year, but many facilities are closed in October. There is a winter welcome center open through the season, except on holidays. Check their operating hours – NPS – Denali

Park Road Closure: The Park Road is the only way into Denali National Park. Since 2021 the road is closed at Mile 43 because of the Pretty Rocks Landslide. Buses only go to Mile 43, and the famous Road Lottery (when people could drive their own car deep into the park) is cancelled for now.

The new bridge over the landslide is not finished yet, so full access is not expected before 2027. Always check the current conditions before your trip: NPS Denali – Park Road updates.
