When Is the Best Time
The best time to visit Asahibashi Bridge is in the morning or evening when the light is almost perfect for photos. However, it is interesting to visit in any season.
Every season is different and a great setting for photos. In summer the average daytime temperature reaches its maximum in July/August: 20°C (68°F). In winter it can get quite cold, the temperature drops below zero -3°C (26°F) in Jan/Feb, even colder during the night.
It is one of the three most famous bridges of Hokkaido. It connects the city center of Asahikawa to the northern suburbs. It is crossing Ishikari River. The Bridge was built in 1932 with imported steel from Germany. It is still the original building without any changes. In 2004 the bridge was added to the Hokkaido Heritage List.
Asahikawa is the second largest city of Hokkaido. It has the most days with snowfall of all Japanese cities.
