Ben Hope

When Is the Best Time

The best time is usually from mid April to September but can be walked all year in good weather

Ben Hope Weather

The weather at Ben Hope is the typical Scotland for the climate in Scotland and very different during each season:

  • May is the golden month – few tourists, broom blossom, long days and tends to be good weather
  • June, July, August are the typical travel months, the weather tends to be warm
March, April and September, October are much quieter, but often rainier
  • December to February is off-season with mostly unpleasant weather  – many B&Bs are closed

Depending on the season, Ben Hope can be a tougher to reach and we wouldn’t recommended it in winter as road access becomes narrow and difficult.

Review by Bohys:

Ben Hope is the northernmost Munro. It is very remote mountain with excellent views. The path up the hill starts on the minor road between Hope and Altnaharra near the place called Muiseal. There is a sign pointing you the right way, but then you have to stick to the path. It is not hard since the path is good. Y

You can reach the top in two and a half hour but it depends on how you are fit. From the top, you can see Ben Loyal to the east, Ben Klibreck to the south and Foinaven to the west. Ben Hope is 927 meters high and is one of the Munros.
