Weather Overview
The weather in November tends to be pleasant and drier. It is the start of the dry season. The humidity is present, but not too noticeable, great for visiting theme parks. Keep in mind, this month will still have a few random days with hot temperatures, or thunderstorms.
The average high temperature in November is 71-79°F (23-26°C) in Florida, with Destin being the coolest place and Miami the warmest. It is the start of the dry season with cooler water and lower temperatures. Rainfall decreases this month with a monthly average of 2.7 inches.

Rainfall
The rainy season is finally over as November brings the start to the dry season. There may be some leftover rain showers or storms, but that is very uncommon and short-lasting, usually.
đź’ˇ The southern regions in Florida have a higher chance of seeing a storm, due to warmer waters.
The average rainfall in November is 2.7 inches, with the chance of rain decreasing as the month goes on. There are on average 10 rainy days this month and only a 16% chance of thunderstorms.
Heat/Humidity
Humidity is constantly high in Florida. The humidity isn’t as bad in the winter months due to lower temperatures and stronger winds. However, if you aren’t used to the tropical climate, or are coming from a snowy state, you may feel more of the effects.
The average humidity in November is anywhere between 50-89% and tends to be higher in the mornings around 7 am, and lowest in the afternoons after 1 pm.
Daily Weather Progression
November is the shift from wet to dry season, and this causes cooler ocean waters, as well as temperatures. The weather doesn’t change drastically throughout the day, but afternoons will always have higher temperatures no matter where you are.
Mornings tend to be bright and filled with sunshine, this will be the time of day when humidity levels will be more noticeable.
Evenings: temperatures drop fast in the evenings after the sun goes down.
Daily temperature progression of a southern location, Miami:
- 8 AM: 71°F
- 11 AM: 77°F
- 2 PM: 78°F
- 9 PM: 73°F
Packing Tips | November Outfit Guide
With Florida’s subtropical climate, it can be difficult trying to pack for the late fall/early winter. From our personal experience traveling around the Cultural Coast at this time of year, you can definitely feel the shift from the wet to dry season and the effects of lower temperatures.
While Florida’s temperatures start to get cooler in November, wear clothes that can be easily layered. Pack light sweaters, a light jacket, t-shirts, long-sleeved shirts, shorts, and t-shirts for the southern region and the warmer days. Wear comfortable shoes.
Layering is key! That way you can add or remove clothing items as the temperature fluctuates throughout the day.
During the month of November, the clothing items in your suitcase should consist of:
- Shorts (if in southern locations)
- Leggings/ Long thin pants
- T-shirts & Long-sleeved shirts
- Layering options
- A light sweater or jacket
- Bathing suits/cover-up, swim trunks
- Raincoat or poncho
Bring, don’t buy: While you can buy a poncho at the park, it will most likely be cheaper to bring in your own!

How many “fall” items of clothing you should bring versus “summer” items will depend largely on the part of Florida you are visiting
If you are visiting north, like Tallahassee, or spending time in the central part of the state, like Orlando, you will definitely see some chillier weather, and jeans or pants will be a good item to have on hand.
If you’re spending time in Miami or Fort Lauderdale, shorts will likely be the better option since it is warm most days of the year.

Even though it will be warmer and more humid, we still recommend bringing at least one or two pairs of jeans for when temperatures are cooler in the evenings.

When staying in Florida, we always keep a sweater or light jacket handy throughout the day for dining out in indoor restaurants. Even during the winter months, a lot of facilities keep the air conditioning on year-round and can be cooler indoors for some people.

This is important to consider if you’re traveling to southern parts of Florida and are packing for warm weather. All fans and air conditioning units will be on full blast the further south you go, so even if you’re planning to wear your best summer outfits, bring a spare sweater.
Headache
When traveling in Florida we suggest always bringing some medicine for a headache. The Florida heat is no joke and if you aren’t used to a warm climate, this could really bring a damper to your vacation. As November humidity levels drop, it can still affect people who aren’t used to a tropical climate.
An alternative to medication to stop or prevent a headache is to drink electrolytes. People who especially aren’t used to the weather will likely do plenty of sweating, and replacing the salt and minerals your body is losing in your sweat is very important to stay healthy.

Whether your plans include spending hours at the theme parks, having a beach day, or exploring some of Florida’s historical sites, a fanny pack or small backpack will be an essential item for your trip.
Tip: Make sure you stock your bag with a refillable water bottle, poncho, sunscreen, a phone charger, hand sanitizer, and your Mickey Mouse ears for Disney to be ready for whatever the day brings!
Sun Protection Is Important
- Durable Cotton Twill Fabric – Made from high-quality cotton twill, the Roxy Extra Innings Baseball Hat provides...
- American-based start-up that cares about customer satisfaction.
The Florida sun is literally different from the rest of the United States – apart from Hawai’i, the Sunshine State is the southernmost state in the country. This means that the sun’s rays strike the state at a higher angle, which increases its ability to heat in the summer and winter.
Tip: Besides suncreen always bring a baseball hat (see our recommendations above)
This means that even if you’re in a cooler northern city, sun protection is still very important. On top of staying hydrated, protecting your skin with sunscreen or long sleeves and pants is a must.
If you’re spending time in the southern part of Florida and want to expose more of your skin to keep cool, choose a sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher to prevent burning. Also, keep a hat and sunglasses handy!
Tip: Applying sunscreen in the morning before your Florida excursions won’t be enough if you plan on being out all day. Reapply at least every two hours, especially if you are sweating or getting your skin wet.
Personal Experiences
Protect your thighs in shorts: I wore some athletic shorts to walk around the Universal and Islands of Adventure theme parks all day. They were cooler than leggings, but my thighs were chafing really badly because of sweat and humidity.
- Womens cute wide leg shorts is made of 100% Polyester, soft, comfortable and breathable, shorts length for more...
- Women one piece rompers feature a basic collar, short sleeves and cuffed hem. Available in ivory, black, navy blue,...
- Material:90%Polyester and 10%Cotton,Slightly stretch,breathable and cozy fabric
If you plan on wearing shorts, either wear long biker shorts or bring baby powder and lotion to absorb the moisture on your legs and reduce chafing! It would have saved me a lot of pain.
Check your SPF: Make sure you don’t buy a sunscreen with low SPF and wear it all day during your Disney trip! I bought a 15 SPF sunscreen during a rushed grocery store trip the night before my Disney vacation.
I didn’t notice the SPF on the bottle, thinking any sunscreen would do. My skin was so red and sensitive by nighttime after my first day walking around the parks. I couldn’t understand why I was so burnt until I looked it up and realized the SPF I used was half the recommended amount.
The next day, I had to cover up with a hat and a thin long-sleeved shirt to protect my raw and peeling skin. It was very warm and uncomfortable but I had no choice – I won’t be making that mistake again!
It’s the little things: If there’s one thing I would tell someone to bring that they likely overlooked in their luggage, it’s a small, portable fan!
- Small In Size, Big On Function: Featuring a Fan, Flashlight, and Backup Power Bank, the JISULIFE pocket bear fan is...
- Great Summer Gift: An ideal gift for stylish girls, boys, men, women, and children; beach, camping, travel...
Even if you don’t find the weather to be that hot or if you get lucky and have some cloudy days during your Florida trip, the one-of-a-kind tropical humidity will definitely catch up to you.
I went for a trip to visit family and go to the theme parks, and even though the high temperature each day was in the high 70s and low 80s, the humidity made me sweat like it was the middle of July.
Bringing a mini-fan I bought on Amazon kept me from being grouchy while waiting in lines to get on the park rides, many of which were outdoors and packed with other people! It wasn’t as strong as air conditioning, but even a little breeze helped me feel better.

While the water of some northern beaches might be too cold for some people to tolerate, the southern beaches are great to swim in year-round. If you’re planning to swim, pack more than one bathing suit so you always have a dry one ready to go!
Beach tip: If you visit the beach and have plans in the area afterwards, most nearby restaurants are swim-attire-friendly. Always double-check, but you shouldn’t have any problems if you want to grab a bite to eat after the beach in a swimsuit and cover-up or T-shirt and swim trunks.
Essential Packing List for Women
- Tank tops
- Loose shirts
- Sundresses
- Loose or sweat-wicking shorts
- A light jacket or sweater
- Comfortable walking shoes
- Flip flops for the beach
- Strappy sandals or heels for a night out
- Sunglasses
Sunglasses protect your eyes from the sun’s intensity but can also help elevate your outfit. The same goes for hats to keep your face shaded, but if you want to keep it more casual, a baseball cap can work just fine.
Jewelry
Less jewelry is more, especially if you have a busy day of fun planned. Stick to simple chains with a secure clasp, especially when going in the ocean or on theme park rides. Avoid rings, earrings, or other pieces of jewelry that can get lost or caught on something.
Feel free to wear all the pieces you like when exploring the nightlife, especially in Florida’s bustling, bright cities like Miami or Orlando.
Prepare Well for Your Night Out
Bring a pair of thick socks in your bag if you’re wearing heels for a long night out. Since you likely won’t be able to carry around a spare pair of shoes if your feet get tired, socks will give you the option to retire your heels and keep you from walking around barefoot.
This is especially true if you’re doing a lot of walking in the evening, like bar hopping or going to a concert.
Essential Packing List for Men
- T-Shirts
- Button-up shirts
- Trousers
- Khakis or cargo shorts
- A light jacket
- Comfortable walking shoes
- Flip flops for the beach
- Dress shoes for a night out
- Sunglasses
- A hat or baseball cap
Safety Tip
It’s vital to be aware of your surroundings at all times and not to let your personal belongings be easily available to snatch. Pay attention to where you are and keep track of your things at all times. You don’t want to put a kink in your vacation by having your things lost or stolen!
Conclusion
November can bring some unpredictable weather in Florida, so it’s best to be prepared for almost anything. Bring a few warm clothing items, some shorts and bathing suits, and versatile items like T-shirts and thin sweaters so you can dress for any weather. Non-negotiable items in your suitcase should include an umbrella, poncho, hat, and sunscreen.
