Havelock Island

When Is the Best Time

October to March is the best time to visit Havelock Island in India.

The monsoon season is from June to September. There are rains throughout the year and very torrential ones too but it has lots of sunshine as well. The climate is equatorial – hot & humid. Avoid too much fish or meat in that kind of weather.

Crowds: Gets crowded at Indian school holidays in December and January.

Review and Tips

Havelock Island is a slice of paradise located in the Andaman & Nicobar archipelago on the Bay of Bengal. It is at the junction of the Bay of Bengal, the Indian Ocean, and the Andaman Sea. There are two beautiful beaches with totally different landscapes. The Vijaynagar beach is calm, shallow and full of underwater rocks (corals). The Radhanagar beach, once voted the best beach in Asia by Time magazine, is more boisterous and suitable for bathing.
There are possible walking trails through the island but it is better to hire one of the many two-wheelers-on-hire as there is nothing much to see in the interior areas. A bus service runs twice from one end of the island to Radhanagar beach. The sea is full of corals and it is hauntingly beautiful.
