The best time to visit Panama is in the dry season December until April. Semi-Dry Season June, July, and August.
The Panama Canal is a wonder of engineering but not many people know that it is a freshwater canal. It needs a lot of fresh water to function because every time the locks are working the Panama Canal system looses fresh water.
So, the Canal Zone is surrounded by rainforest to have a steady supply of fresh rainwater filling the canal system. So, a lot of the Canal Zone is surrounded with forest with a lot of typical Central American wildlife and birds. One of the places to visit is Gamboa where there is a canopy tour and a monkey island.
