Destin is truly magical and one of the best destinations to visit in northern Florida. Whether you are looking to relax on the beach and enjoy the coastline, go on a deep-sea fishing excursion, mosey around quaint fishing villages, or indulge in delicious seafood, Destin is the place to be.

It’s such a great location for travelers of all ages and has been a personal family favorite of mine for more than 10 years.

While the name may be misleading, Crab Island is one of the coolest and must-do activities while visiting Destin. It’s not technically an island, but a sandbar that can only be reached by boat, and is the ideal place to hang out during hot and sunny summer days.

Crab Island is surrounded with floating attractions and restaurants, making it one of the most unique locations and a place that showcases the true beauty of Destin.

Insider Tip: Don’t underestimate the Florida sun! My nephew is very fair skinned and we always make sure to lather him in sunscreen, and he typically wears a tshirt as well, after getting an extreme sunburn the year before. Always be sure to lather, and re-apply throughout the day when enjoying Crab Island.

Beach Sand Sculptures offers one of the most exciting activities for the whole family while visiting Destin; sandcastles building lessons. Take your building skills to the extreme and construct a work-of-art sandcastle with expert guidance.

You will also receive a Sandcastle Build Kit, with ass the essential tips and tools yo umay need. This was a perfect activity for my family traveling with 3 kids. They had a blast and it was a fun competitive competition for the adults as well.

Insider Tip: Children under 4 years old can build and play for free, so its great for the whole family.

The Village of Baytown Wharf is a great activity to add to any good Destin itinerary. This quaint village is one of the most charming and authentic locations in Destin and is full of cute shops, restaurants, and cafes to wander around throughout the day.

It’s a local and visitor favorite and holds festivals and live performances at various times throughout the year. We always like to spend an evening in the Wharf to get dinner and do some relaxing souvenir shopping before returning home, and there is always live music happening somewhere, making it a great spot to end any trip.

4. Have Fun at Uncle Buck’s Fishbowl & Grill

We know the reviews are only 3.8 on Google. However, we still highly recommend this place! Read the reviews and decide for yourself.

Uncle Buck’s Fishbowl and Grill is one of the most unique spots in Destin and a perfect option for rainy or cloudy days. Take bowling to the next level, with an underwater alley.

Surrounded by a massive aquarium, Uncle Buck’s Fishbowl and Grill is the funniest bowling alley in the world and comes with cool ball designs and delicious food as well. We had some of the best burgers in Destin here during our last trip, plus, and night of good entertainment and fun.
