MARCH OUTFIT GUIDE
Weather Overview
It’s comfortable to stroll through the city during this month. Average highs reach about 72°F (22°C), and humidity levels are low. The mornings are about 15°F (9°C) colder, and the average rainfall is only 0.5 inches.
Clouds: In March, you will see clear blue skies most of the time. More than half of the days pass by without seeing a single cloud. While overcast days are possible, they are much less common than in other areas of the United States in March.
These weather conditions make it perfect for getting outside in the afternoon and enjoying the inside attractions in the evening. It will feel like a relief if you’re coming from colder areas in the north.
Progression: With March being the transition between winter and summer, temperatures rise steadily throughout the whole month:
- Early March: 68°F (20°C)
- Mid-March: 72°F (22°C)
- Late March: 76°F (24°C)
Morning/Noon/Evening Temps: The nights and mornings can get pretty chilly in the desert, even in March. Be prepared for rapidly falling temperatures in the evening. This is what a day could look like:
Early March:
- 8 AM: 52°F
- 12 PM: 63°F
- 4 PM: 66°F
- 10 PM: 55°F
Late March:
- 8 AM: 57°F
- 12 PM: 69°F
- 4 PM: 73°F
- 10 PM: 62°F
Precipitation: During March, all precipitation in Las Vegas falls as rain since temperatures do not go below freezing.
The chance of rain falls drastically throughout the month, starting with about a 12% daily chance at the beginning of the month and ending with around 5%. Typically, there is only a slim chance of some raindrops. So, if you want rain, stay away from Las Vegas.
Wind: Wind speeds increase in the desert, especially in the afternoon. The average wind speed in March is 8.5mph for Las Vegas. Wind speeds lower the perceived temperature, so you might feel colder than you actually are. On windy days, a sweater is a good idea. We suggest checking the forecast.
Quotes from Locals About the March Weather
- ‘March is a great time to visit Vegas. Days are warm enough and enjoyable while still having a slight bite of coolness in the air.’
- ‘March is often the most unpredictable and erratic month in terms of weather in Las Vegas. Temperatures can range from the 50s through the 80s. No two years are equal, so the experiences of others in the past give you only a rough idea.’
- ‘When visiting Vegas in March, the best advice is to check the forecast while packing. However, even then, be prepared for changing conditions in Las Vegas.â
March Outfits | Packing Guide
It can sometimes be tricky to figure out what to wear in Las Vegas during the month of March. Spring usually arrives early, which means you can expect cool mornings and warm, sunny afternoons.
Vegas March Outfits on Amazon | SHOP NOW
In March, you will want to wear short/long-sleeve t-shirts, jeans, and a light sweater or a light jacket for cooler mornings and evenings in Las Vegas. Remove a layer or two when it gets warm in the afternoon. Layering is key in March.
This is the month when pool season officially starts. If the low 70s feels warm to you, make sure to pack a swimsuit, sunscreen, and sunglasses so you can make a splash.
Advice: As always, when packing for a trip, itâs a good idea to choose items that all coordinate well with each other to give you the most possible options.
Do You Need a Jacket in March?
- SOFT FABRIC: This Columbia Women's Benton Springs Full Zip fleece is crafted of soft 100% polyester MTR filament...
- CLASSIC FIT: Close-but-comfortable fit with easy movement
Because the mornings in Las Vegas are cool, but not freezing, and the afternoons are moderate, you will not need a thick snow jacket on your trip. We do recommend packing a regular light to medium jacket or sweatshirt that you can put on and take off easily as the day warms up a bit.
Our March Jacket Tips for Vegas | AMAZON
If you come from a northern or midwestern part of the United States, you will probably be happy walking around the Strip in just a short-sleeve shirt and jeans on a sunny afternoon in March. In this case, you should be fine to pack a few undershirts to layer up, plus one or two jackets or sweaters for the cool mornings and chilly evenings.
If you originate from an always-sunny state where shorts and sandals are part of the daily uniform year-round, you will find yourself happy with a thicker jacket layered on top of a long-sleeve shirt or sweater throughout the day. Still, we recommend layering with an undershirt in case you happen to be pleasantly surprised by the sunny warmth of certain afternoons.
A Typical Day
Mornings
At 9 or 10 AM when youâre leaving your hotel, you will want to dress warmly with a few layers on. With the last bit of overnight chill still hanging in the air, a T-shirt or long-sleeve underneath a jacket or sweatshirt and jeans will keep you comfortable as you take part in your breakfast and other morning activities around the city.
Afternoons
By midday, you should be feeling much warmer, especially if you are walking outdoors beneath the desert sun. If youâre feeling too toasty, you can peel off your outer layer and walk around in your long-sleeve or T-shirt. If you are a particularly chilly person, you would benefit from carrying a lighter sweater with you to swap with your jacket around this time.
As the afternoon wears on, temperatures normally peak for the day around 3 or 4 PM. You should be comfortable walking around in your base layer by this time even if you havenât stripped off your outer layers yet.
If the afternoon is not particularly sunny, however, you will be happy to have your outer layer handy to slip back on as night time comes around the corner.
Evenings
Once the sun goes down for the evening at around 6 PM, you will want to re-apply your layers as the night wears on, especially if you are visiting on a windier day.
If you get the chance to return to your hotel room to change for your evening activities, youâll want to change into nice closed-toed shoes or boots, smart pants or trousers, and a blouse or collared long-sleeved shirt that will pair well with your jacket. Even if you donât feel cold enough to wear the jacket right away, bring it with you to layer up later.

March Excursion Outfits
While the Strip is full of plenty of sights and shows, there is so much to see and explore that lies outside of the city lights. If youâre planning an outdoor adventure, itâs extremely important to consider your attire and supplies, especially because it may be a bit of a drive back to your hotel if you forget anything important, like water or a sweater.
Whether youâre planning on a picnic at Lake Mead, a hike through Red Rock Canyon, or a chance to experience some much cooler temperatures up on Mount Charleston, you should plan on wearing comfortable walking shoes and warm clothes you can move freely in.
Women’s Athletic Shirt Tips | AMAZON
Women should wear leggings or stretchy pants for freedom of movement, a comfortable sports bra, and a long-sleeved athletic shirt. These kinds of shirts are convenient because they are tight and warm but also sweat-wicking. They are perfect for layering with a light to medium jacket if you get cold in the high altitudes of a destination like Mount Charleston.
Men should plan to wear joggers or sweatpants and a long-sleeved athletic shirt to layer with a light jacket. Everyone should come prepared with thick, comfortable socks and supportive walking or hiking shoes.
A spare sweater or jacket is a great idea to pack in the car on your day trip, as the winds and altitude can make temperatures much colder than they are in the city. Simultaneously, Red Rock will see warmer temperatures than Mount Charleston, so if the former is your destination, you should plan on needing to take off your outer layer and wrap it around your waist or stuff it in your backpack as you heat up on your hike.
Regardless of your destination, itâs always better to take more layers than fewer, because you can always take off an outer layer if the exercise raises your body temperature.
Tip: Even if you donât think the weather is too cold and want to wear shorts and a short-sleeved shirt, we recommend covering up as much skin as possible, especially when hiking, to protect yourself from bugs, plants, and other flora and fauna you may come into contact with in the wild desert.
Outdoor activities: If you plan to venture out into the nearby hiking areas during the daytime, wear light layers and hiking boots.

March Personal Tips
Sunscreen is still important: While you wonât be sweating during your spring trip to Las Vegas, that doesnât mean the sun isnât packing a punch.
When I visited Las Vegas in the springtime, my skin was covered up with long-sleeves and pants nearly the entire time, so I wasnât too worried about sun exposure. But if you plan on walking around outdoors for much of your trip, pack some sunscreen at least for your face and neck.
After just a few hours of being outdoors, my skin got a little pink and irritated, and I had to go out and buy some SPF for the rest of my trip.
Pro tip: Many moisturizers have SPF in them, and I would recommend buying one of those for some dual action. Your skin will thank you, since the desert air is very, very drying.
Pack a scarf: Consider packing a scarf in your luggage if you are coming to visit from a warmer climate.

My mom is a Florida native and thinks anything below 75 degrees Fahrenheit is freezing. Whenever she comes to Vegas anytime that it isnât summer, she is prepared with dozens of long-sleeved shirts, sweaters, and thick coats.
Her latest trend has been investing in good scarves to wear throughout her Vegas vacation, and she loves it! She says it helps protect the skin on her neck from the sun, reduces how sharp the wind feels on her face, and gives her something to breathe through when the air feels too cold for her nose.
Donât bother with extra winter attire: I would have saved some space in my suitcase if I had left some gloves, beanies, and thick winter socks at home.
Even though I visited Vegas in early spring, I overestimated how cold it would be, because I am unfamiliar with desert weather. While some mornings and nights were chilly enough to warrant a jacket and pants, I wasnât at risk of my fingers, toes, or ears going numb. Much of the heavy winter clothing I packed went unused.
Plan on jackets, sweaters, and lots of layers, and you will be fine!
Conclusion
March is a beautiful time to experience Las Vegas; the winter freeze is starting to melt away, while still allowing you to enjoy sweater weather under clear skies. Pack warm sweaters, several options for layers, some extra emergency clothes, and comfortable walking shoes.
APRIL OUTFIT GUIDE
Weather Overview

Temperatures are climbing in the desert city, while the cloud cover and rainfall are falling.
Only about 20% of the days are fully overcast in Las Vegas; this is lower than in other US regions. On four out of five days, you will at least see the sun for some time.
‘We always visit at the beginning of April. The weather is usually great as it’s not too hot and perfect for wandering around. We always have pool days and get a nice tan.’
Chances of rain are even lower, around 4% daily. Since Las Vegas is located in the Mojave Desert, the humidity levels are low. The temperatures reach about 81°F in the afternoon and hover around 62°F when you get up at 8 AM in the morning.
These temperatures and a light desert breeze are perfect for strolling through the city midday and afternoon. When temperatures are lower in the evenings and mornings, you may choose activities inside or outside with the appropriate clothing.
Temperatures: April is the first actual spring month, temperatures are on the rise throughout the month on the transition between winter and summer:
- Early April: 75°F (23.9°C)
- Mid-April: 79°F (26.1°C)
- Late April: 84°F (28.9°C)
In the desert, temperatures fall drastically during the nighttime. Thatâs why mornings and evenings are considerably colder. This is what a day could look like:
Early April:
- 8 AM: 59°F (15°C)
- 12 PM: 71°F (22°C)
- 4 PM: 75°F (24°C)
- 10 PM: 64°F (18°C)
Late April:
- 8 AM: 64°F (18°C)
- 12 PM: 76°F (24°C)
- 4 PM: 81°F (27°C)
- 10 PM: 69°F (21°C
Weather summary from a local: The last week of April almost always has great weather, while the first two weeks of the month can be unpredictable in terms of winds and temperature.
Precipitation: Temperatures are well above freezing for the whole month, so it will not snow. Las Vegas being a desert city, receives only small amounts of rainfall in the form of light showers. It rains on only about 5% of days at the start of the month and 3% of days in late April.
Wind: Average wind speeds stay at about 9 mph throughout the month. Wind speeds pick up during the day in the desert. So in the afternoon, the wind will lower the feel-like temperatures. Since temperatures are high enough in April, there is nothing to worry even with some wind.
Weather and Clothing Reports from Visitors
- I was there in mid-April and was wearing shorts/t-shirts the whole time. The only issue I had was the wind, as it was pretty bad at times with summer clothes on.
- When I visit in April, it is mostly sunny during the day. However, after 6 PM it gets a little colder. I always advise carrying a light jacket with you, especially if you plan to get back to your hotel late at night: Our April Jacket Tips for Vegas | AMAZON
- I find that April is short and t-shirt weather in the sun. Also great for swimming in pools on sunny days. However, step into a shadow, and you do feel the cold. Also, I suggest changing into trousers and putting on a light jacket once the sun goes down.
- The weather is always perfect for us in April. Although last year, it was a little breezy, which happens.
April Outfits | Packing Guide
Whether youâre waking up early or staying up late, dressing in layers is essential.
Las Vegas in April means you are wearing shorts and short-sleeved t-shirts in the afternoon. Pack a light jacket or a sweater for mornings and late evenings that you can shed or put on when needed.
Visitor report: Shorts and T-shirts work mostly during the day in April. However, I always bring a windbreaker or another light jacket if needed. Sometimes, it just sits in the closet.
Do You Need a Jacket in April?

- Full zip up closure with pockets
Las Vegas wastes no time in warming up as the weeks go by once winter is over. While you will need at least one comfortable light jacket or sweater on your trip, you should be fine to walk around in just a T-shirt or thin long-sleeve on your trip, especially if you will spend most of your time in the sun.
If you come from a northern or midwestern part of the United States, you will be content to explore the city in a tank top and shorts, but we recommend having a sweater with you for when you encounter some shade or the chilly casino air conditioning.
đĄ While it will no longer be hoodie weather, layering your daily outfits is still the safest bet.
A Typical Day
Mornings
When youâre leaving your hotel in the morning for breakfast or whatever morning activities you have planned, you should be comfortable with a T-shirt under a jacket or sweatshirt.
Our Spring Jacket Tips for Vegas | AMAZON
The morning will still be cool, thanks to the lingering overnight temperatures, so pants will feel better than shorts or a skirt.
Afternoons
Midday will be warm enough for you to take off your outer jacket or sweater, especially if you are visiting later in the month. If you are visiting in early April and anything near 70°F is still too cold for you, you will benefit from bringing a thinner sweater or cardigan with you to swap with your jacket.
As the afternoon wears on, temperatures normally peak for the day around 3 or 4 PM. You should be comfortable walking around in your base layer by this time even if you havenât stripped off your outer layers yet.
But if youâre visiting in early April or if the afternoon isnât very sunny, you will want your cardigan or jacket handy to keep off any chill in the air.
Once the sun goes down for the evening at around 6 PM, you will want to re-apply your layers as the night wears on, especially if you are visiting on a windier day.
Evenings
For your late evening activities, you may want the chance to return to your hotel room to change into a dressier outfit, especially if you plan on going out and enjoying the Stripâs nightlife.
Consider changing into nice closed-toed shoes or boots, smart pants or trousers, and a blouse or collared long-sleeved shirt that will pair well with your jacket. Even if you donât feel cold enough to wear the jacket right away, bring it with you to layer up later.
Tip for the ladies: Afternoons can also get pretty windy, so if you plan on wearing a flowy dress, you may want to pack some undershorts! Bring your nicest clothes for nighttime activities like dinner and a show, or going out to bars and clubs.
Accessories | Bags
Bring a suitable bag in February! You will need one for carrying water, your wallet, phone, jacket, and hand sanitizer.

April Excursion Outfits
Las Vegas isnât just a national gem because of the Strip. While the Strip and downtown area can provide great nightlife, entertainment, and cuisine, much of Las Vegasâ value lies in its local scene and natural sights. You should plan an outdoor excursion if you can on your trip, whether itâs hiking through Red Rock Canyon or Mount Charleston or kayaking through Lake Mead.
If youâre planning an outdoor adventure, itâs extremely important to consider your attire and supplies, especially because it may be a bit of a drive back to your hotel if you forget anything important, like water or a sweater.
Regardless of your planned activities, make sure you are wearing comfortable walking shoes and warm clothes you can move freely in.
Women should wear leggings or stretchy pants for freedom of movement, a comfortable sports bra, and a long- or short-sleeved athletic shirt. These kinds of shirts are convenient because they are not restrictive and work for different kinds of weather.
Women’s Athletic Shirt Tips | AMAZON
Men should plan to wear joggers or sweatpants and a long- or short-sleeved athletic shirt to layer with a light jacket. Everyone should come prepared with thick, comfortable socks and supportive walking or hiking shoes.
Whether you want to plan on wearing a T-shirt or long-sleeve will depend on your destination. If you plan on hiking, Mount Charleston will be about 10 degrees cooler than Red Rock thanks to its high altitude. We recommend wearing a long-sleeve and a jacket if you plan on exploring Mount Charleston.
If you are taking a hike through Red Rock, leggings or pants paired with a T-shirt will work fine. While you should bring a jacket for the beginning of your hike, you will find that you will not need it for most of the hike as you will begin to heat up, especially if the sun is beating down on you.
Even if you donât plan on wearing a sweater or jacket, itâs a great idea to throw one in your backpack or your car, as winds or clouds can make a difference in the âfeels likeâ temperature. Regardless of your destination, itâs always better to take more layers than fewer, because you can always take off an outer layer if the exercise raises your body temperature.
Another important thing to consider is wearing a hat and sunglasses — regardless of the time of year you visit, you will find the sunshine to be a very strong companion on your time outdoors.
đĄ Tip: Even if you donât think the weather is too cold and want to wear shorts and a short-sleeved shirt, we recommend covering up as much skin as possible, especially when hiking, to protect yourself from bugs, plants, and other flora and fauna you may come into contact with in the wild desert.
Sun protection: April might not be very hot (like July, the hottest month in Vegas), but the city has an average of over 300 days of sunshine per year. If you plan on being outside a lot, bring sunscreen and a pair of sunglasses. You could always buy some when you arrive, but prices on the strip are always inflated.
Good to know/walking: Many tourists choose to walk the strip but donât realize the entire distance is over 4 miles long. That doesnât include walking through the casinos! Make sure to bring a pair of comfortable shoes or plan on hailing a rideshare to save your feet.

You will definitely not need anything like a winter or thicker medium jacket when visiting in April, even for the chilly mornings in the earlier part of the month.
đĄ However, itâs a good idea to bring one light jacket or sweatshirt and one thin cardigan that you can layer with most of the other outfits youâve packed.
You will find that the temperatures can get cool enough in the mornings and evenings to warrant some long sleeves, not to mention the frigid air conditioning that the casinos blast year-round.
As spring rolls into the Vegas valley around this time, we find that most people are comfortable with a T-shirt and a jacket or cardigan they can take on and off in April.
Tip: Keep in mind the weather will not feel the same in the afternoons as it does in the mornings, especially in mid- to late April. The mornings let you catch the last bit of sweater weather that the city will have for a while, but by noon, you will not want that sweater anymore.
The weather is beautiful enough to be comfortable in a T-shirt or blouse, so make sure you are wearing something under your jacket that youâre comfortable walking around in during your day excursions around the city.

Personal Tips for April
Get creative with your outfits: My boyfriend is someone who enjoys fall and winter weather because of the outfits he gets to wear. If you are anything like him, you may love putting together outfits that center around an impressive beanie and jacket or coat.
When Las Vegas starts to get warm, he hates having to swap his favorite attire for plain T-shirts. He found that investing in nice flannels over a T-shirt is a great way to wear thin sleeves that keep him warm in the morning but donât have him sweating and overheating by the toastier afternoons. Flannels are also very easy to roll up or put in a bag if you really need to cool down.

Plan on sweaters and a few layers and you will be fine!
Conclusion
April is the last truly beautiful month to experience spring in Las Vegas before temperatures rapidly start to climb for a traditional desert summer. Prepare to be comfortable or slightly warm in the afternoons with some T-shirts and jeans, but also plan for early morning and late night chills with one or two jackets and other layers. Your non-negotiable items in your suitcase should include a hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, and very comfortable walking shoes.
