Weather Overview

While typical winter temperatures are common in the northern states during November in Vegas, you can usually enjoy summer-like conditions. However, the desert environment will significantly lower temperatures overnight while the days get shorter and the nights longer. Yet, temperatures rise during the day due to the strong sun.

The weather in Las Vegas during November is relatively warm with the average day temperature around 65°F (18°C). Conditions can be quite changeable during November, with some days warm and breezy and others cooler and windy. The average rainfall is only 0.4 inches

Unpredictable conditions: Temperatures in November vary a lot. Once, we walked around on Thanksgiving in only shorts and a t shirt. At other times we definitely needed pants and a jacket.

On rare occasions, the peak daytime temperatures can exceed 80°F (25°C) due to a heatwave. However, we would not rely on these very scarce days.

On one of our trips to Vegas in November, we wore shorts during the day. The next year we needed pants and a coat in the afternoon. It is advisable to check the weather forecast a few days ahead of traveling. Typically, the November weather is often beautiful during the day, while evenings are quite cool.

Early November is the warmest time to visit during the month, with daytime temperatures in the 70s and when the cloud coverage is lower. Mornings are cool and a sweater or jacket is needed until the air warms up by midday. The afternoons are the hottest part of the day in November and offer the potential for a swim in the pool, for those pools still open.

Mid to late November is colder but still enjoyable. The day temperatures are colder and a sweater is needed for the windy or odd rainy days. Afternoons on the strip are the warmest part of the day. However, if you are planning to explore areas outside of the strip, such as the Grand Canyon, then take a sweater and jacket as the desert weather gets cold.

The daylight hours during November are around 10 hours per day with the sun setting at 5.45 PM at the beginning of the month, and 4.30 PM by the end of the month. Although the days are shorter than in previous months, it is a great time to take advantage of the cooler weather and explore Vegas outdoors.

The wind speed during November in Las Vegas is a comfortable 7.7 mph, which feels like a moderate breeze. However, on a cold day, a breeze can easily make the air feel colder than usual. Remember to take a jacket for the cooler days.

Is Vegas Cold In November

The weather is changeable in Las Vegas during November as days are either sunny and warm, or windy and cold. The average daily temperature is 65F and evening temperatures can drop to 50F. Pack longer trousers and a light sweater for the cool windy days, and a jacket for the colder evenings.

Rainfall

November is the driest winter month in the city with not much precipitation to be expected.

During November in Las Vegas, there is a very low probability of rain each day. The average rainfall is around 0.4 inches (9 mm) throughout the month, which typically spreads over two days. In most years it rains only on one or two days in November.

Although it rains very rarely on more than two days, in some years, this month is completely rain-free.

Does It Snow in November?

It gets cold at night, however, it does not snow in Vegas throughout November. While rain is possible on very few days, none of the precipitation falls as snow.

In early November and on pleasant days, it is warm enough for T-shirts during the day. Take a light sweater to wear in the evenings and in the cool air-conditioned casinos. In mid-to-late November, the weather is colder, and you should put on light layers and a jacket.

It is still expected to dress up for going out, so women should pack a classic black dress with eye-catching jewelry, and men should wear a smart suit jacket over a clean button-up shirt and smart pants.

How Necessary Is It to Bring Warm Clothes?

The weather is fine enough for summer clothing. Friends coming from a colder region often wore shorts and T-shirts during the day while many others didn’t.

We even got sometimes odd looks from people who probably thought it was strange that we wore T-shirts and shorts. Of course, it cools down in the evenings and jeans and jackets are the better clothing choices.

If you plan on wearing shorts and shirts, also plan to bring a sweater or cardigan, as the temperature in casinos and restaurants is usually very cold. We would even recommend bringing an “emergency” warm outfit if you find yourself braving a very chilly early morning or late evening.

If you come from a warmer climate, however, and don’t take well to even a little bit of chill, we recommend packing jackets, long sleeves, and pants for your trip, especially if you visit near the end of the month.

You Can’t Go Wrong With Jeans and Long Sleeves

Jeans are a great option to wear during the entire month of November, since even in the beginning of the month it won’t be overly warm. The mornings will be a little on the colder side and the afternoons will be temperate and comfortable, so you can wear your jeans throughout the day.

As for tops, we recommend packing a thin long sleeve shirt to wear during the day in early November. This will keep you protected from the early morning chill, but is light enough that you won’t overheat as the strong sun warms up the afternoon a bit.

This way, you can simply roll your sleeves up and down depending on how much warmth you want, rather than carrying around a sweater to take on and off if you’re on the go during the day.

November truly shows autumn at its finest in Las Vegas with temperatures that allow you to spend time outdoors without a snow coat and without feeling like you’re going to sweat your skin off.

Another benefit of visiting at this time of year means more cloud cover and a much lower UV Index than you would see in the hot summer months. This means that while you should always consider sunscreen and other forms of sun protection, you do not need to be as vigilant.

Personal Tip: Baseball Cap

The gentler UV rays also means that you do not need to worry about heat-related illnesses or the dehydration that is a great risk to tourists during the warmer part of the year.

We recommend packing at least one jacket if you find that the cold is harder to bear than you thought. In our experience, we need another layer on top of our shirt or long-sleeve when going out in the morning before 10 AM when the sun begins to warm up the air.

Even if you end up enjoying the chill and don’t use the jacket during your trip, it’s better to have it and not need it, especially with the variable November weather.

Jeans are a great way to stay comfortable during the day, whether it’s temperate and breezy or on the chilly side. Nice trousers will be a great option when putting together your outfit for your night out.

Dresses

You can never go wrong with a cocktail dress for your evening attire, and you can style it up with stockings or a wrap to keep warm. During the daytime, a sweater dress will be a comfortable and cozy option on chilly days.

Sneakers or Sandals

Sneakers aren’t your only option for comfortable footwear if you want some variety. Sandals will also work but make sure you have a pair that offers good support and that your feet won’t get too cold.

More Personal Experiences and Tips

Keep your things close to you: If you plan on spending time in heavily populated tourist areas, like the Strip pedestrian bridges or Fremont Street, be wary of people around you!

When I visited Las Vegas, I was walking between two big casinos in a part of the Strip that was really packed with tourists. I anticipated there would be a lot of performers and people asking for money, but some got aggressive while asking.

I’m so happy I had my wallet and other belongings in my fanny pack strapped across my chest, so it was easy to put my hand over the zipper as I kept walking to make sure my items were secure.

My biggest piece of advice is to keep your things in a small bag that is easy to hold and keep track of, or if that’s not possible, make sure you keep your wallet and phone in your front pocket. Avoid carrying these valuables in your hand, because someone can easily swipe them and run off.

Save yourself from dry skin: Pack a thick lotion in your suitcase and carry it with you during your trip – the desert air is extremely dry, especially in cold weather.

I have oily skin, but the Vegas air gets so dry that I feel like the skin on my face and hands is going to crack in half unless I’m constantly reapplying moisturizer. Whenever I go in the fall and winter, the chilly air only makes it worse. Even if you think you have really oily or hydrated skin, the air will dry you out and you’ll thank yourself later by packing lotion.

If you’re like me and you can’t stand the greasy feel of lotion on your hands all the time, try to invest in a really thick cream to put on your skin at night to let it absorb some moisture. This way, your skin can get as much hydration as possible overnight and prevent some of the drying and cracking that comes with a day of exploring the city!

Staying decent: While I wouldn’t recommend wearing a dress in November if you get cold easily, make sure it’s conservative or you’re wearing the proper undergarments if you choose to do so.

I visited Las Vegas when there was a nice breeze in the air, and while it didn’t exactly feel like a storm, it was enough to blow my short skirt around. Thankfully, I had packed a spare pair of thin athletic shorts that were practically invisible under the dress but helped me feel more covered up.

I recommend swapping your sundress for a sweater dress or maybe even a cute jumpsuit if you plan on visiting in November. This way you avoid an outfit malfunction, and you will most definitely feel warmer.
